2019 Review (sort of)

So, I was hoping to have started this back in January.  But remembering what happened 11 months ago is nearly impossible.  So I’ll just write with how my year went.

I’ll most likely go backwards as the earliest memories will be easier to remember, LOL

Well December there was a few things that happened. Besides my birthday, I got a surprise package from a friend who had met Dom Sherwood and had sent me what she done during that convention. Not only did she send me the picture of her photo op with him, but he was holding up a shirt she had designed (for a lack of a better word), and the shirt of which he signed. I done an Instagram live so she could see my reaction when I opened it. And yes, there were tears.

As well in December, Fan Central TV was doing a 12 Days of Fanmas on their YouTube channel and you were able to get a chance to win what each video contained by answering a question (or whatever she needed you to do). I was waiting patiently for Shadowhunter goodies, and the days were passing by and y birthday was getting closer. It just so happened that my birthday was the last day for the Fanman giveaway and sure enough, it was on my birthday. You can watch the video here to see the prizes.

So I watched said video. Couldn’t help but laugh while watching. And then I answered her question in the comments. I was crossing everything I had to cross to give myself the good luck I could muster to actually win this. Mainly because it was years since I won anything online.

Low and behold I seen them make a tweet of the list of winners for the 12 TV series and seen a “Karen Ford” for Shadowhunters.  I congratulated all winners until I took a double take on the name and had to ask if that was actually me?  It was and then I danced around the house.  I was in shock, to be honest. I’ll do a video of me opening the package once I get it. 🙂  Thank you again Fan Central TV.  ❤ ❤ ❤

I also had another friend surprise me with a Clace autographed picture.  She originally had an extra Kat McNamara photo, so she had me pick from the ones she sent me for a favourite of mine to have signed.  So I had one chosen and didn’t think anything of it when she was trying to choose a various of Clace pictures.  So when I helped her with one I thought she was getting for herself, Well, you can guess I was in shock when I got a package from her with the picture of both Kat’s and Dom’s signature on it.  She also sent me a small piece of paper with Dom’s writing on it for me as I have plans for a future tattoo.

I feel very blessed to have the friends I’ve made on Twitter thanks to a show that got cancelled after only 3 seasons.  And I’ll be forever grateful to them. ❤ ❤ ❤

I also won a signed autograph of Chai Hansen, who played Jordan Kyle from Shadowhunters.  I hope to meet him, as well as the rest of the cast, someday.  They are all a blessing to so many of us who draw on them for different reasons.  Thank you again Tiff. ❤

I feel that everything so far is Shadowhunter related as to how my year went.  And for the most part it is.  From books being released, to having my own marathons via NetFlix.

Besides birthdays and anniversaries, we (my hubby and I) went back to Cuba for the 4th time, back in April.  And yes, to the same resort.  They have become family to us.  We are really hoping to take our kids (tho not really kids) with us this time.  We want to take them to a place where we felt the most welcome.  Melia Las Antillas.  It’s an older resort, but it’s the people who always brings us back when we can.

This is not much of a review of my year in 2019, but I promise to make a better one for 2020.

So on that note, thank you for visiting my blog.  Thank you for reading, and most of all, thank you for sticking around to see what I post next.

Sending you all lots of love.

Happy February!!

I know we’ve been into this month for the past 7 days, but hello February.

And looking back, the last time I posted in here was in November. That’s a bit of a break.  And it wasn’t intentional.  I really need to find things that’s interesting to write about.  I wonder if I should post a bit of pieces of what I write about?  Whether it’s short stories, poems, or something.

In the past I’ve asked my readers what they would like to see me write about.  Hence the reason for the long breaks in posts.  I suppose, if I had a general idea of what people find interesting, it would be easier on having something to write about.

I will not be posting about politics.  For one main reason, I hate it.  I find it brings out the worse in people.  So that’s off the table.

Actually, since November, we welcomed our new niece into the world.  Because she was a preemie, she had to stay in hospital for awhile.  But she’s home and doing awesomely.  I love being an aunt. And having just the two nieces, and a fur nephew Joey (my sisters cat), there’s no better feeling (other than being a mom of course, lol).

Now with school half way done for the year, I better start making plans for what to do on their off time.  We usually take the kids on a trip of sorts, camping usually.  This year might be a little different, can’t say what yet as we (hubby and I) haven’t really discussed things.

Then it’s another trip to Cuba.  Love that place, especially the people.  So I’m still crossing my fingers that happens this year.  Still waiting on the prices to drop more than what it is. 🙂

Of course I can’t forget Scifi on the Rock.  I’m NOT missing that convention.  Besides the guests (who are awesome this year), it’s a great mother-daughter weekend.  And it’s going to be wicked because we are dressing up.  Can’t say of what, going to leave that one for later.  But it will be a fun weekend.

I will have to leave this post as is for now.  I have some things to get done.  But I want to wish you all a great day.

Until next time.

Cuba 2016 Adventure

Well that’s another trip full of fun memories to put under my belt.  Or in a photo album for all to see.

Cuba.

To be precise, Melia Las Antillas on the Varadero peninsula.

Beautiful spot.

It’s an older hotel, but the updates they have done in the last couple of years (and still doing while we were there), it looks awesome.

My hubby and I were there in 2014 and fell in love with the people.  Yes it’s an older resort, but what awesome updates they have done in the past 2 years.  In fact, they were still working on the new stone walkways while we were there, and they look amazing.

Big difference!!!

We got there before our room was ready, the same one we had a couple of years ago, and didn’t mind the little bit of wait.  Because of the mishap from our first time visiting, the resort was very accommodating to my requests.

Me and Betsy

Everything was given a face lift as it were.  I’m excited to go back to see what else they’ve added.  Plus we miss our Cuban family.  They are the reason why we work hard to go back.  Betsy, Raul, Martica; love and miss them all.

Me and Martica

Me and Martica

These two ladies were awesome to get to chat with again.  There’s a funny story involving Martica that I’ll share in a little bit.  I’m sure she’ll never forget it any time soon.

We (my husband and I) didn’t bother with any excursions this time around. We did however visit Varadero for a few hours. Unfortunately, it was a day where it was high winds, even the beaches were closed down as the waves were really high and too dangerous to swim. Because of this, everyone had the bright idea of going to Varadero for the day, which caused every double-decker bus to be over the limit of people.  A couple of buses passed us by because they couldn’t take any more people.  Some people were grabbing taxis, we waited for the next bus.  Hoping it wasn’t too full.  No such luck though.  But we made it and went to the bigger of their flea markets.  Sorry I didn’t get a picture, I’ll get one on the next trip.  I didn’t think about the picture until after we were 2 blocks away.  Wasn’t going back, LOL.

And when I said ‘everyone’ I mean EVERYONE from every resort on the Varadero peninsula. LOL.  There were a couple of buses that past us by because they were loaded down.  To the point where they were actually leaning to one side.  I highly doubt that was safe, LOL.  But it was an adventure nonetheless. 🙂

We got to the market and browsed around first before committing on actually buying stuff.  Most things were the same as 2 years ago, others were new-ish.  Towards the end of the browsing, we stumbled across some wooden carvings.  What got our attention was the 3-headed dragon.  I looked at my hubby and we both said, “Yep.”  The young man there spoke great English, and apparently he works part time as a tour guide.  You will have to forgive me though, as I can’t remember his name.  But when I find his card, I’ll edit to add him in.

They had all kinds of wooden carvings.  And yes, they were finished wood to bring home.  So we ended up getting the 3-headed dragon, a dinosaur’s head (which really looked more like Nessy), a dolphin and a turtle (those 2 were for our daughter).  The gentleman was kind enough to burn on their names, Cuba and 2016 on the dinosaur’s head and the tail of the dolphin.  Our kids loved these most of all.

It was lovely this time to just relax and not have a care in the world.  Meeting new people from all over the world and just hanging out at the pool bar with Raul and the other 2 Musketeers 🙂  Miss those guys and can’t wait to see them again.

Now don’t get me wrong,, even though we had an awesome time with just me and hubby,, I did miss our friends we traveled with 2 years ago.  But when traveling with just your significant other, you get to think about a lot of things and people who matter to you the most.  And I’m so grateful for everyone I have in my circle.  Albeit it’s not a big circle, but I know who I can count on when I’m having a bad day. 🙂

Now before I end off this post,, mainly because I’ve had this in draft since MARCH, but I mentioned a funny story that happened.  So now’s a good a time as any to tell it.

Ok.  So we were having our last night at the Italiano restaurant, invited by Carlos, and we were enjoying the music being played in the back ground.  Well for whatever reason I happened to look at the PAINTED clocks on the wall that were opposite to our table when I felt the urge to want to hurry.  I knew we weren’t seated for that long, but the time on the “clock” was 10:14pm.  So I told hubby that we have to hurry or we’re going to miss the entertainment (it already started 9:30pm).  Well, he looked at me funny and looked at his real watch.  It was only 8pm at this point. He started laughing so much his face was turning red and he started crying.  When I realized what I said, I started laughing.  Our server, Martica seen us and came over to see what we were laughing at.  Hubby told her and she started laughing too.  Poor girl was even trying to server other customers or reset tables and not laugh.  I have to commend her for that one, LOL.  At one point she walked past us and spoke, “I can’t look at you right now”.  LOL.   Anyway, if you ever go to this resort and go to the Italiano restaurant, ask Martica if that’s the right time. LOL.Is that the real time?

Thank you to Melia Las Antillas for sending me the picture.

It was definitely the most memorable visit.  One that I doubt we (or Martica) will ever forget, LOL

So until next time.
